Jekyll Island Announces Results from Turtle Crawl Triathlon and 5K Fun Run
Jekyll Island is proud to announce the winners of the Seventh Annual Turtle Crawl Triathlon. Over 500 athletes participated in the Olympic Distance Triathlon, the Sprint Triathlon or the 5K Fun Run/Walk. A portion of the proceeds raised will go to support the ongoing operation and expansion of the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island. Jekyll Island Authority Board Views Progress at New Hampton Inn & Suites Site
Following the adjournment of their January 14 monthly board meeting, the Jekyll Island Authority Board took a hard hat tour of the new Hampton Inn & Suites hotel. Set to open late summer 2009, the hotel will included 138 hotel rooms, a restaurant, and meeting space. It will be the first new hotel to open on Jekyll Island since 1974.

First Island Treasures Float of 2009 Discovered
"Island Treasures on Jekyll Island" is a unique treasure hunting experience on Georgia's most popular public beach. The treasures are hand-crafted glass floats, called Island Treasures. Over 200 of these beautiful, unique floats are placed on the beach during January and February for visitors to find. The first float was found by two lucky beachcombing guests from Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

On Tuesday, December 16th, the Jekyll Island Authority presented a comprehensive update regarding the revitalization of Jekyll Island to members of the Jekyll Island Legislative Oversight Committee.
